Digging deep into the forums I found some pics of a Skyteam 125cc Cafe Racer from the “Beijing Second International Motorcycle and Accessories Fair”. Actually that is the google tranlation of this page title. Is that CIMA? I don’t think so because that is happening this week and the post is from July.

Anyway, have a look at the pictures of this cool looking retro cafe racer. Hopefully it will make it to the US some day.

FX Bikes put out a

FX Bikes put out a new video of their 125 lb, 125cc “Mountain Moto” being put through the paces by various pro MX and MTB riders. They looked to be having a blast tossing it around and Wheelieing through tight spots, logs and dirt mounds. The FX appears to be at home playing in places full sized MX bikes might resemble a bull in a china shop.

Yesterday I received an FX Bikes mailing list survey asking if I would prefer an 80 cc two stroke version tuned for smooth power over the 125cc four stroke. I answered… fine with me. If it is lighter and quieter all the better.

Survey says…

1. FX is considering a modern 80cc 2-stroke engine for a new model Mountain Moto.

This would have about 15hp but still be 57kg/125lb.
It would be red sticker in USA. (Later we can do green sticker / Euro 3 versions, but not yet).

This engine is a new design, 4-speed, tuned for smooth power delivery.

If this was available, would you prefer it over our current 125cc 4-strokes? (Would you want it?!)

Anyway. Have a look at the video below and let me know what you think…

If your near Glendale, CA on October 23rd be sure to check out the Love Ride. Looks like a great bunch of riders getting together for a great cause.

Centerville, Utah, October 14, 2011

This year is the 28 th annual Love Ride, and this addition will foster Autism Awareness and benefit
Autism Speaks. Autism currently affects one in 77 Boys. ATK Motorcycle’s CEO Frank White has one
of those special autistic boys who also loves motorcycles.

Come join Frank, his son Jeff, Jay Leno, Peter Fonda and many others by riding in this charity event
on Sunday October 23, 2011.

“One of my colleagues at ATK has two Autistic sons. Blessings come from having Autistic children,
and so do many challenges. Financial contributions from charity events such as the Love Ride could
make life better for the families who have a child with autism., ATK and my family are grateful that
Oliver, Leno, Fonda and Glendale Harley promote these Charity rides every year”, said Frank White.

Come see Frank, Jeff and others in the ATK Motorcycle tent at the Love Ride.

Looks like some folks near Springfield, IL have a truck load of Sachs X-Road 125 supermotos. $600 per bike. Unfortunately they don’t come with a title. Still a great deal on an interesting and unique motorcycle.

Have a look at the Ebay Auction for more info.

I rode an electric version built by Electric Motorsport a year or so back. Fun little bike.

Steve Christini took advantage of the dip in motorcycle sales to secure a manufacturer out of China to build Christini branded 450 four stroke and 300cc two stroke bikes. No surprise they feature the Christini All Wheel Drive system. The 450 will retail for less than $7000 USD making it extremely attractive option for riders looking for game changing features in their next ride. The 2 stroke will use a Gas Gas motor.

No word on who is manufacturing the 450 yet but stay tuned, I’ll be digging.

Jon Syverson, former Sales Manager of Harley-Davidson, has joined ATK as the new Executive Vice President. As VP he will be in charge of setting up a dealer base and leading the sales of ATK’s new line of Hyosung based streetbikes. Jon’s experience as a District and Regional Manager along with his successful tenure leading the fleet sales division of HD should greatly help ATK get a foothold in the US market.

It is also no secret that the dealerbase ATK is really interested in are those of Syverson’s old stomping ground, Harley-Davidson. ATK wants to be a rider’s first step into the Harley Davidson family by providing a 250cc and 650cc vTwin cruiser under the American ATK brand. This would not involve The Motor Company directly, just select HD dealerships who like the idea of filling the void left by the entry level Buell Blast. The first step in the HD line is the 883 Sportster. Most agree it’s a little too heavy and expensive for most beginners.

Syverson will also be invaluable in bringing ATK’s electric Police / Fleet bike into US Police departments.

Former Harley-Davidson Sales Manager Jon Syverson to Join ATK Motorcycles

Centerville, Utah, February 8, 2011 — ATK Motorcycles has named former Harley-Davidson Sales Manager Jon Syverson as its new Executive Vice President. In his new senior management role at ATK, Jon will be responsible for expanding ATK’s presence in the V-Twin market. Already known for their race-ready off-road motorcycles, ATK sees Syverson as a key to pushing into the street bike market.

“We’re excited to welcome Jon to our expanding group of tried and tested motorcycle people,” says ATK President Frank White. “At ATK we clearly understand that in order to successfully market our V-Twin motorcycles we must maintain a balanced relationship with both dealer and rider. We must clearly understand our customer’s needs, and act to provide appropriate motorcycles… areas that Jon will be able to help us with greatly.”

White explains that ATK sees Jon Syverson as the ideal person to handle their dealer expansion and sales activities since that is what he did best at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc.* for 30 years. “I met Jon some 20 years ago at the Motor Company when he managed a great team who specialized in military, police and related fleet sales,” White added. “Jon has a proven history of performance, which resulted in a commanding market share during his tenure at Harley-Davidson.”

In addition to serving in senior sales management roles at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc., Jon also worked as a District and Regional Manager. He is a Life Member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), long involved in the Patriot Guard Riders and a member of the Advisory Board, Concerns of Police Survivors. He is also a past recipient of Wisconsin’s prestigious Annual Motorcycle Safety Award and a member of Damascus Lodge No. 290, F. & A. M., Milwaukee, WI, a Masonic Order.

*ATK is not aligned with or sponsored by Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc.

Congrats to Matt Kellerman, Powersports Outlet Racing and Hyosung for the amazing performance in CCS Southwest this year!

Press Release follows:

Firebird Raceway, Chandler AZ Nov 14th 2010: After a long season beginning back in January, Powersports Outlet Racing won the CCS Southwest Lightweight Championship aboard their Hyosung GT 650R. The weather was perfect for the last race of the season and the team took advantage with two race wins and two second places on the day. Although a rules change this year did not allow the Lightweight Bikes to fight for the Overall #1 plate, the team took pride in knowing that they amassed the most points and would have won the overall expert plate any other year. When all was said and done the team won all classes they contested: LW GP, LW Superbike, ULW Superbike, Thunderbike and the Overall Lightweight Championship.

Matt Kellerman: 2nd LW GP, 2nd LW Superbike, 1st ULW Superbike, 1st Thunderbike

“It was a great year for the team. We have been racing the Hyosung GT 650R for 4 seasons and all the hard work really paid off this year. We jumped out to an early lead this year, winning the first 9 sprint races in a row, and only finished off the podium in one race all year. I have to thank my friends and pit crew Tim and Annette Flood for all their support. Also, a big thanks to Powersports Outlet for their sponsorship, Jim Cox Racing for providing the great Dunlop tires, the Crew of CCS SW for putting on a great race series, and Hyosung Motors USA for their parts support.”

Powersports Outlet Racing is currently gearing up to contest the WERA West series in 2011. The little Korean bike that could, has proven itself to be a reliable, race winning machine and we are proud to be associated with a great up and coming brand. We look forward to competing on a larger stage next year and showing off the potential of the Hyosung GT 650R.

Powersports Outlet Racing is based out of Prescott, AZ and has raced the Hyosung GT 650R since 2006. They have had countless podium finishes, multiple race wins, and class championships. If you are interested in the unique sponsorship opportunities they can provide contact the team at 928-778-7910 or email: shop@epfguzzi.com
